Regulating Lawyers in Aotearoa New Zealand
For the past 12 months a team from Sapere, led by David Moore and Jeff Loan, has supported an independent review of how lawyers should be regulated.
The Panel’s recommendations have the potential to reshape the legal profession. The wide-ranging recommendations include establishing a new independent regulator, permitting new business structures, liberalising how individuals can practise law, reforming how complaints about lawyers are handled, and initiatives to improve the culture and address poor conduct within the profession.
