Lockie recently graduated with a Master of Economics from the University of Otago. Previously, he completed a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and Economics – achieving the Commerce Dean’s List twice, and a place on the 2018 Economics Honour Roll.
He has recently completed research in areas of environmental economics, using a model derived from financial literature to analyse New Zealand’s fishing quota markets. This included analysis of the efficient functioning of these markets, and exploring the effects on fisheries sustainability from New Zealand’s current individual transferrable quota system. Lockie has also completed study in numerous areas of finance, in particular, study of multinational enterprises and financial management. This includes the operation of foreign exchange markets, methods of hedging foreign risks, and analyses of overseas investment decisions.
