David Moore, Nives Matosin, Hazel Rook and Jens-Christian Weber from Sapere Research Group were engaged by Community Pharmacy Services Governance Group (New Zealand) to prepare a ‘think piece’ to identify if there are other logistics and supply-chain models which could be considered as inputs for developing options for addressing the pharmaceutical margins issue currently facing the NZ health sector. The research looked at other relevant industries and compared the relative strengths and weaknesses of these models for application to distributing pharmaceuticals in New Zealand. The analysis also identified a broad range of options for addressing the margin issue.
